WHAT is WISE SSEP?
WISE SSEP offers young women of Newfoundland and Labrador the opportunity to have paid work
placements with award-winning researchers and scientists. Students can experience firsthand exciting,
rewarding, and accessible careers in science and engineering. In addition to work experience, WISE SSEP
provides students with weekly workplace tours, professional development, networking opportunities, and
social activities.
WHO can apply for WISE SSEP?
Female high school students within Newfoundland and Labrador, who are currently in Grade 11 (Level II),
and will be returning to high school in September.
NOTE: Grade 10 (Level I) students in Labrador may also apply for positions based in Labrador.
WHERE is WISE SSEP?
St. John’s and vicinity, Champney’s West, Corner Brook, Norris Point, and Port Hope Simpson. Please
note, some remote work may be available.
WHEN is WISE SSEP & how much will a WISE SSEP position pay?
WISE SSEP is a 7-week placement from June 30th- August 18th, 2025. Participants will work for 35 hours
per week and be paid minimum wage ($16/hr – starting April 2025).

- Parents/guardians complete the Parent Section
iii. Have your teacher complete the “Teacher Section” and submit their confidential references
- Scan or email a copy of your most recent grades to administrator@wisenl.ca

- Students complete the “Student Section” of the Application form (page 2-17)
- Parents/guardians complete the Parent Section (page 18-19)
iii. Scan or email the completed application, and include a scan/fax of your most recent grades
- Have your teachers complete the “Teacher Section” (page 20-22) scan and email, or fax their
confidential references separately to administrator@wisenl.ca

iii. Include a Copy of your most recent grades

- To ensure that the SSEP office is expecting your application, please send an email to
administrator@wisenl.ca and tell us your name and school.
- Have your teachers submit their confidential references in a sealed envelope with your
application, mailed separately, completed online or sent by email.
NOTE: Applications received without all the required information will not be accepted.
Successful applicants will be contacted in May.
